A comprehensive screening or evaluation is provided to all residents on admission. A rehabilitation program is developed for those residents requiring specialized services. Our Therapy Department will conduct ongoing assessments of functional status. Families are encouraged to participate in the rehabilitation program and support the resident in adapting to their new environment and/or preparing for discharge home.
Physical Therapy (PT) trains residents in the areas of ambulation, balance, transfers and lower extremity strengthening. Modalities to assist in neuromuscular retraining and pain management are also available.
Occupational Therapy (OT) focuses on assisting residents in returning to their maximum functional level of activities of daily living. OT also assists in positioning and contracture management with splinting.
Speech-Language Pathology (ST) offers services for residents with cognitive, memory, language, voice, fluency and speech deficits, as wells as problems swallowing. ST also assists with augmentative/alternative communication for those residents who require an alternative means of communication, other than traditional speech.
